Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia to Introduce Fame Victory Condition

Creative Assembly has revealed an entirely new way to achieve victory conditions in Total War, through Fame. In Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia, players can win the game just through by being famous.

Of course, there’s more to it than that. The Total War games have always been about waging war to achieve the end-game victory conditions. However, accumulating Fame is now a valid way to win in Total War. Creative Assembly representative Michael Whelan explains via blog post: “With the victory conditions in Thrones we wanted to provide options that tie into the different ways people like to play Total War. Conquest is for those who want to paint the map. Fame, however, is for those who want to develop their faction.”

In the upcoming Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia, players can improve the overall Fame of their faction by constructing certain buildings, researching certain technologies or by having a good king. Each of these generates Fame points, which will be collected to achieve short and/or long Fame victory conditions.

In the new trailer unveiled today, we can see King Anaraut of the Welsh planning to build a “grand and prestigious kingdom.” The Welsh have access to a unique faction mechanic called “Heroism,” which provide bonuses to their faction leaders’ influence and in turn provide a Fame bonus for the faction.

Creative Assembly teases that completing the short and long Fame victory conditions does not mean that the game is over. Completion of the long victory unlocks the events leading to the Ultimate victory conditions, which will be revealed in a future blog post.

Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia is the first installment of the new Total War Saga series, offering the same additive mix of turn-based campaign strategy and real-time battle tactics but concentrated to a single point in history. It will be released for the PC on April 19th, 2018.
