Call of Duty Black Ops 4

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Announced, May Come to Battle.Net

Activision has announced that Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will be the next installment in the franchise. The publisher reveals that it will be released for the PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 12th, 2018.

Treyarch, responsible for all previous Black Ops games, is confirmed to be the developer of Call of Duty Black Ops 4. Other than the release date, Activision has not provided any details on the upcoming game, only labeling it as a “game-changing experience.”

Activision and Treyarch have promised to share more information on Call of Duty Black Ops 4 on May 17th, 2018, which is about two months away. On this date, they will be presenting a “community reveal to a worldwide audience.”

In other related news, CharlieIntel reported that the Call of Duty login and account management sites have seemingly received an update earlier today. Interestingly, users can now link their Blizzard Battle.Net account with their Call of Duty account. A possible interpretation of this news would be that Call of Duty games might soon be available on Battle.Net. If this is true, it will be following Destiny 2‘s example of being released exclusively on Blizzard’s platform.

Despite the rumors, Activision did not include the Nintendo Switch in its announcement. We’ll just have to wait for today’s Nintendo Direct for what’s definitively coming for the hybrid console in 2018. Activision’s Call of Duty Black Ops 4 announcement comes hot on the heels of another major reveal earlier today. Ubisoft has just officially announced Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, which will be developed by Massive Entertainment.

An October release date for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 means that it will be released earlier than past entries in the franchise. Previous installments have always traditionally had November release dates to hit the holiday season. Call of Duty Black Ops 3 was released back in November 2015.
