Rare has announced that the final open beta for Sea of Thieves is now available for all Xbox One and PC owners. The Sea of Thieves Final Beta is a culmination of their previous Technical Alpha, Closed Beta, and Scale Test efforts. Rare Executive Producer Joe Neate said (via blog post): “As we head towards launch on March 20th, we have one Final Beta test to run. This gives us an opportunity to grow our scale testing to our largest number yet, it allows us to test a broader range of features than ever before, and it also gives anyone who’s interested a chance to play and experience Sea of Thieves for themselves.”
Not only do the Gold Hoarders quests from the Closed Beta return, players will be able to try out the brand new Merchant Alliance voyages for the first time. They will also have the opportunity of stumbling upon an occupied Skeleton Fort while playing, providing more intense gameplay.
Xbox One X owners will be happy to learn that they will be able to experience Sea of Thieves in glorious 4K resolution in the Final Beta, as the Xbox One X enhancements will be available for them. Just like the previous Closed Beta, there are no restrictions on streaming, sharing and uploading gameplay footage.
Some players should expect to be temporarily put on hold before joining active sessions during peak times. The purpose of this is because Rare wants to ensure everyone receives the best possible experience while playing through the Final Beta. The Sea of Thieves Final Beta will run from today on Friday, March 9th to 2 am PST / 10 am GMT on Sunday, March 11th, 2018.
Sea of Thieves is an action-adventure cooperative multiplayer game developed by Rare and published by Microsoft Studios. It will be released worldwide for the Xbox One and PC on March 20th, 2018. Last month, Rare confirmed that Sea of Thieves will not feature any loot boxes but microtransactions will still be added to the game about three months after release.
