The Last of Us 2‘s directors have been named, with Neil Druckmann being joined by two other creative leads as a result of an internal shake-up in Naughty Dog. As part of these changes, Druckmann has also been promoted to Naughty Dog vice president, a position which reflects his expanding role within the company.
Anthony Newman and Kurt Margenau have been named as the joint game directors of The Last of Us 2 by Naughty Dog president Evan Wells, with the pair being named as “key contributors” to Naughty Dog’s game since joining the studio during the development of Uncharted 2. It was also announced that Emilia Schatz and Richard Cambier will be the game’s Lead Designers.
Druckmann will remain the creative director of the game, though Newman and Margenau’s appointment will likely see his role reduced in order to accommodate his new position as vice president.
“In recognition of his expanded role, contributing on critical, studio level decisions, Neil Druckmann is now Vice President of Naughty Dog,” Wells wrote in the post. “He’s been a vital part of the management team for some time now, and we’re proud to formally acknowledge his involvement.”
“We have such an incredible team at Naughty Dog, and I’m always happy when I am able to recognize those who have made an outstanding contribution to our games and the studio,” the Naughty Dog president concluded.
The Last of Us 2 has yet to receive a concrete release date, though more information is scheduled to be revealed at E3 2018, including the release of a brand new trailer.
