Report: Tekken 7 Noctis DLC is Coming Next Week

Final Fantasy XV‘s Noctis will reportedly make his way to Tekken 7 next week, with the protagonist set to be included as a DLC fighter. The unlikely crossover is said to take place sooner rather than later, with Noctis being introduced to the game with little build-up.

The report comes from Kotaku, with the outlet’s sources claiming that Noctis will come to Tekken 7 by next Tuesday, March 20. Noctis was previously announced for Tekken 7 back in 2017.

The timing of the DLC would make sense, considering that Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition has just launched, broadening the player base of the 2016 JRPG. This PC port of the game included its own crossovers, with Steam players receiving Half-Life-themed DLC, while Origin players received The Sims DLC.

The Tekken 7 reveal trailer for Noctis can be viewed below:

Noctis isn’t the first unlikely character to be introduced to Tekken 7. The game launched with Street Fighter‘s Akuma as a playable fighter, continuing the collaboration between Bandai Namco and Capcom that previously looked like it might end with Street Fighter X Tekken. SNK’s Geese Howard also made an appearance in post-release DLC, with the King of Fighters and Fatal Fury character being added to the console versions of the game.

In the reveal trailer, Noctis can be seen making use of his various weaponry from Final Fantasy XV, taking on the fighting game’s cast of characters. Final Fantasy XV‘s other heroes Prompto, Ignis, and Gladiolus also make an appearance, though they won’t be playable in Tekken 7.

Noctis still isn’t the most unlikely character to be introduced to a modern fighting game, with Injustice 2 taking that honor after introducing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as DLC fighters. Still, with Tekken 7‘s first Japanese release taking place back in 2015, it’s good to see the game still receiving support.
