Shadow of the Tomb Raider Trailer Leaked, No Timed Exclusivity

The first Shadow of the Tomb Raider trailer has been leaked ahead of its official reveal tomorrow, with it being shown in theaters prior to Square Enix’s official announcement tomorrow. This continues what has been a monumental series of leaks for the game, including its release date being revealed earlier today.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider hasn’t even been officially named by Square Enix, though that was leaked back in 2016 after a Reddit user spotted its logo displayed on a train passenger’s laptop. Its publisher’s struggle with keeping the game under wraps has extended into 2018, with its trailer being aired in theaters. Inevitably, footage of the trailer has been captured and shared online.

Watch the leaked Shadow of the Tomb Raider trailer below:

Though only a short trailer, it does reveal a few things. Firstly, Microsoft’s Xbox One timed exclusivity deal seems to have expired, with the game being slated for a PS4, Xbox One, and PC release from the get-go. Rise of the Tomb Raider was initially slated as an Xbox One game, with its PS4 release being confirmed later, so the inclusion of the PS4 logo suggests that the series will go back to being multiplatform from the day of its launch.

Secondly, and this was pretty much a given at this point, but the Shadow of the Tomb Raider leaks were true and that is the game’s official title. The logo is shown at the end of the trailer, following an image of Lara Croft looking out to a sunset.

Square Enix will have a higher quality version of the trailer available at the event tomorrow, and we’ll also be on hand to report any more announcements that stem from the game’s official reveal. Until then, Square will be hoping it won’t spring any more leaks.
