Far Cry 5 has it all; javelin-like shovels, car-crushing bears, and aggressive turkeys that make up the wacky and wonderful world players have found themselves lost in. That’s translated to Far Cry 5’s week one sales being double that of Far Cry 4. This isn’t too much of a surprise, as a lot of new players have been diving into the game in order to see what all the fuss is about, with it receiving a lot of traction on social media. It didn’t hurt that it was set in Montana, with many intrigued as to how it would tackle the real-world politics that were hinted at in its trailer.
On its blog, Ubisoft announced that the Far Cry 5 is the fastest-selling game in the history of the series, the second best launch ever from the company (right behind The Division) and that “people streamed more than 55,000 hours of Far Cry 5 on Twitch and YouTubers’ videos earned more than 117 million views.” It goes without saying that it has been a massive hit with streamers, though it’s also proved hugely popular with the average player, too, particularly those who have used the game to get their creative juices flowing.
More interesting stats were also revealed on Ubisoft’s blog, such as players having to spend over 70 hours in order to hear every single line of dialogue in the game, and that players have spent over 1 million hours with the diabetic bear, Cheeseburger. These figures indicate that it would be an understatement to say that Far Cry 5 has been a success.
