The Fortnite guided missile has been embraced by the community as a tool that allows for some truly epic rocket riding feats. The ability to jump on one’s own guided missile and ride it into battle is as fantastic as it sounds, with some players even managing to jump from guided missile to guided missile, traversing the map in the most stylish way possible. The Fortnite guided missile was also useful at, you know, killing people that were camping behind cover. Unfortunately, due to an animation error, the beloved guided missile has been temporarily removed from the game.
Fortnite Guided Missile Removed
The Fortnite guided missile started experiencing issues following the implementation of the new 3.5 update, which added a ton of new features, but also broke a couple of things.
Epic Games quickly acknowledged that there was a problem with the Fortnite guided missile and promptly removed it. Posting on Twitter, the developer stated that “due to an animation issue with the guided missile, [they are] temporarily disabling it until [they] have a fix.” We’re to be updated once the problem has been resolved.
When Will the Fortnite Guided Missile Return?
The Fortnite guided missile will return to Battle Royale once Epic Games has fixed the animation issue. It’s unclear how long the process will take, as the developer can sometimes be very quick with rolling out fixes, but also very slow. (We’re still waiting for word on the Fortnite jetpack, which was supposed to launch a month ago!)
It’s not unusual for Epic Games to rotate different weapons out, keeping the current arsenal fresh and allowing for any additional testing to be carried out during a weapon’s downtime. It’s possible that the Fortnite guided missile will be better balanced when it eventually returns, in addition to having the animation problem fixed.
