Xbox One Gets 8 New Original Xbox Backward Compatible Games Today

It was only last year, during E3, that Microsoft announced they would be fully supporting backward compatibility for their original Xbox titles onto the Xbox One. And while these batches of games are added less frequently than that of their 360 counterparts, there have been new games added since the announcement. Today 8 new original Xbox backward compatible games have been added to the system, and we’re pleased to say the newest batch looks absolutely phenomenal.

When Xbox fans log onto their console today, they’ll have quite the selection of treats waiting for them. In addition to Bioware’s much loved martial arts RPG Jade Empire, players will be able to play Conker: Live & Reloaded; Sega’s rail shooter, Panzer Dragoon Orta; Bethesda’s well-acclaimed RPG The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind; hack-and-slash game Hunter: The Reckoning; the snowboarding game SSX 3; the timeless platformer Blinx: The Time Sweeper and the first person action game, Breakdown.

The first batch of Xbox originals that came out in October last year had some fantastic titles too, including favorites like Prince of Persia and Star Wars: Knight of The Old Republic. It certainly has kept more than a few fans happy that they can lose themselves to nostalgia on a newer console. Though, some fans may still be wondering when the console will get an exclusive that will rival their arch-nemesis, the PlayStation 4.

Regardless of how you feel about the tired old argument of PlayStation versus Xbox, you can’t deny that Microsoft Studios are doing a great job in finding new ways to get people coming back to their console. While the batch that is out today is already pretty amazing, next week will see players reuniting with another batch of games. Among them will be titles such as Destroy All Humans, MX Unleashed and Full Spectrum Warrior.

It’s safe to say that Microsoft is invested in their backward compatibility feature, though we can’t help but wonder what will be included in the future, if it will always have fans coming back for more or if this is only to tide them over until a new exclusive can come around and wow players.
