Final Fantasy Director Keen On Making Vita Title

Even though Sony is still struggling with third-party support for the PlayStation Vita, at least some big-name developers are eyeing the hardware.

In a recent interview for the Japanese PlayStation Awards, Final Fantasy Type-0 and Crisis Core director Hajime Tabata expressed his desire to make a Final Fantasy game for the Sony's struggling platform.

I had an impression [that] it was an exceedingly good piece of hardware. Since I [had been] making Final Fantasy titles on the PSP, I have an interest in [developing] for a larger device. As someone concerned with game production, there is nothing other than the Vita that offers that largeness, high density and luminescence, and ability to [render] high-quality images.

Given Tabata's experience with the PSP, it seems likely that one day we'll see a Final Fantasy title on the PlayStation Vita directed by Tabata and his team—a team responsible for some of the best FF titles to ever release on a handheld (that weren't just re-releases).
