Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn will be getting a limited-run collector’s edition that was unveiled by Wired Productions and the man himself, Shaquille O’Neal earlier today. The Streets of Rage inspired beat-em-up that attempts to redeem the 1994 bomb will star the famed former NBA star on an action-packed quest.
One of the most enjoyable things about Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn is the degree of involvement that O’Neal has with the project. He voices his in-game counterpart, has had a part in the creative direction of the game, and even recorded a single exclusively for the game. This involvement extends into the collector’s edition, where he presented the announcement trailer and is including autographs in each of the 500 copies of the edition.
It isn’t just O’Neal’s signature that you’ll get if you pre-order the Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn collector’s edition. You’ll get an optional copy of the game on your platform of choice (Xbox One, PS4 or Nintendo Switch) with a 2 and a half hour day one DLC, a Shaq Fu t-shirt in sizes from M to XXL, a Shaq Fu snapback, a Shaq Fu artbook, a bright yellow vinyl of the single recorded for the game by O’Neal, a “Shaq Shimmy Lenticular Art Card,” and a “stunning” Shaq Fu bag.
But why only 500 copies? “We’re only creating 500 units, because our community wants that rarity and exclusivity, and we’re delighted to deliver this compelling product for Shaq’s biggest fans,” Said Leo Zullo, Managing Director at Wired Productions.
After multiple delays and a period of radio silence after the game met its IndieGoGo goal a few years ago, so it’s nice to finally see the project come to light. I played it at EGX Rezzed earlier this year where they had a demo of the game available to try, and I can confirm it’s pretty Shaqtastic.
