Agony

Agony Will Not Receive Uncensored Patch After All

It looks like backers of Agony won’t be getting that uncensored version after all, due to some legal issues. The game has already been delayed in the past and it was only given a definitive release date last month. Despite the seemingly bad news, there’s a consolation prize for players as the developer has surprisingly managed to retain most of the original content in the final version.

Madmind Studio revealed the news in a Steam Community post earlier today. It was previously thought that PEGI (Pan European Game Information) and other rating companies would balk at what Agony‘s hellish content. On the contrary, they have actually accepted most of the game’s original content, with the exception of “several seconds from two endings (out of seven) and some scenes that may be unlocked only after the end of the game.”

Agony Censored Version: List Of Content Still In The Game

The developer seems keen to remind Agony fans that none of the promotional material and trailers have been censored in any way and it has even listed down the specifics. According to the list, the game will still feature these upon release:

  • Gore
  • Brutal Sex Scenes
  • Lesbian and Gay Sex Scenes
  • Genital Physics
  • Eye Gouging
  • Heart Plucking
  • Children Heads Exploding
  • Setting Fire to Martyrs and Demons
  • Intense Violence
  • Strong Language
  • Drugs

That’s not what any player would call a conventional list of content for a game, but that’s exactly we will supposedly see in the final version of Agony. Since the game will only be slightly altered and the uncensored version has been canceled, Madmind Studio will release a comparison video showing players the cut content so that they won’t be missing out on anything.

The company also clarified that if it were to release the uncensored version, Agony would be banned and it would get sued. This would all lead to the studio closing down. The post ends with the studio reassuring fans that Agony is still the game it has planned from the start. Agony will be coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 29th, 2018.
