Sega’s mascot is set to star in his very own Sonic the Hedgehog Movie, which is slated to be released in November 2019. We haven’t received any confirmation on who the cast of the live-action adaptation will be until now. Reports confirm that one of the series regulars from critically acclaimed HBO TV series Westworld will be the first to join Paramount’s upcoming movie.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, actor James Marsden will be starring in the Sonic the Hedgehog Movie. However, it is currently unknown what his role will be in the movie, although it will probably be a big one considering Marsden’s current fame. He first came into the mainstream spotlight portraying Scott Summers/Cyclops in the first two X-Men movies during the early 2000s. Now he is best known for his role as Teddy Flood in the science fiction TV series Westworld.
Sonic the Hedgehog Movie: Details
We reported earlier in February that Jeff Howler will be making his directorial debut with the Sonic the Hedgehog Movie. He is best known for being the director of 2005 Oscar-nominated short Gopher Broke. The script will be written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, the latter of which is best known for being the creator of Fox’s Golan the Insatiable animated series.
Additionally, Neal H. Moritz is the producer of the Sonic the Hedgehog Movie. Both Deadpool director Tim Miller and Toby Ascher are the executive producers, while Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons are the co-producers. It certainly looks like this movie might focus more on comedy.
Paramount is envisioning the Sonic the Hedgehog Movie as a mix of live action and CGI. It will presumably be similar in style and tone to movies like Space Jam and Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Computer-generated or animated characters will be running around in the real world amongst real human beings.
