PlayStation has announced Twin Mirror, a PS4 game from Vampyr and Life Is Strange developer Dontnod Entertainment. It will be published by Bandai Namco Entertainment and it seems to be following in the footsteps of the Life Is Strange‘s narrative-driven gameplay. It’s the third of five game announcements as part of PlayStation’s Countdown to E3 2018.
The Twin Mirror reveal trailer depicts a mystery and murder at the center of the narrative. Players will assume the role of a protagonist named Sam, who returns to his hometown of Basswood in Virginia to attend the funeral of his best friend. Things take a dark turn when he wakes up the next day with a shirt covered in blood and no recollection of his whereabouts from the night before.

Players will have to search for clues and help Sam recover his memories. In doing so, the truth will set you free. Or will it? Twin Mirror is described on PlayStation Blog as “a psychological thriller wrapped around an investigation where your memories, choices, and relationships will determine Sam’s complicated fate.” It will certainly be an emotional journey full of twists and turns ahead.
It’s been an exciting few days thus far and the PlayStation E3 2018 Showcase is still three days away. We currently have Lumines designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s Tetris Effect and the release date for the highly-anticipated Days Gone, as well as today’s Twin Mirror announcement. It seems like PlayStation is already winning E3 2018 even though it hasn’t officially started yet. Nintendo and Xbox will have to step up their game if they wish to stand out at this year’s E3.
Here’s hoping Twin Mirror lives up to the hype and anticipation when it releases on the PS4 sometime in 2019. Dontnod Entertainment’s most recent title, Vampyr, was a departure from its usual narrative-heavy games like Life Is Strange and it definitely shows. In our review for Vampyr, we said that it was a “bloody mess,” awarding it a rating of 2.5 out of 5.
