E3 2018: Grim Fandango Remastered is Switch Bound

E3 2018 is the gift that keeps on giving for us game fans. Long after the highs of each company’s press conferences and streamed videos, showcasing to the world exactly what is coming out soon and in the (sometimes) distant future, we are treated to bonus announcements. Brand-new games such as the underrated Codename STEAM have been announced during Nintendo’s Treehouse section, for example. Today we got a nice surprise in the form of Tim Schafer’s legendary Grim Fandango. That’s right. Grim Fandango Remastered is heading to Nintendo Switch.

During a 20th anniversary reunion of the original cast at the E3 Coliseum (plus Jack Black, for whatever reason), it was confirmed that the 2015 remaster of Grim Fandango will be coming to the Switch. This is excellent news for Switch owners, as Grim Fandango is one of the finest adventure games of all time. Grim Fandango won many awards back with its original release. Since, it has been named in countless greatest games of all time lists.

When Can I Play Grim Fandango Remastered on Switch?

Sadly, a release date was not given alongside the game’s announcement. While we’ll have to wait a while to play the classic Land of the Dead adventure, it will be worth it. Previously featuring on Playstation Vita and mobile phones, we know that Grim Fandango Remastered works well as a handheld title with touchscreen controls. The transition to Switch should be seamless and hopefully provide fans with the perfect Grim Fandango Remastered experience.

Double Fine’s classic adventure title puts you in the shoes of Manuel “Manny” Calavera – a travel agent in the Land of the Dead. Players are tasked with saving new arrival Mercedes “Meche” Colomar in a film noir styled humorous adventure game. Influences include the likes of Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon and On the Waterfront.

Adventure game fans who haven’t played Grim Fandango Remastered are in for a treat when the game hits the Switch.
