Warriors Orochi 4 will be launching in North America on October 16 and in Europe on October 19, 2018, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, according to an announcement by publisher Koei Tecmo. The game is the latest installment in the popular one versus thousands action game series. The game previously announced to release in Japan on September 27, 2018.
Warriors Orochi 4 will feature 170 playable characters from the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors universes and will see the return of split screen co-op mode. This latest installment will also introduce Magic abilities, which will give the game’s characters the capability to launch ranged and targeted spells alongside their legacy moves and special attacks.
According to the announcement, each of the game’s characters has been gifted a Sacred Treasure by the Gods which powers their spell-casting abilities. The first example of the new Sacred Treasures and their corresponding Magic abilities is the Keravnos, wielded by Zeus, the first character announced new character, which allows him to call down thunder.
Players will also be able to combine their powers with those of an ally’s to perform even more powerful attacks.
No information on the new game’s story has been announced yet but more information on the game’s narrative as well as all the new mechanics and returning characters that will be making it into the new installment will be announced in the coming weeks.
The last Warriors Orochi title, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, was released back in 2014 for the PS4, PS3, PS Vita, and Xbox One. The Switch version was released just last year on November 9, 2017, in Japan although a western release has yet to be announced.
Warriors Orochi 4 is scheduled for release on October 16 and October 19, 2018, in North America and Europe, respectively, for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can check out the trailer for the new game below:
