PUBG Sales Reach 50 Million, 400 Million Total Players Worldwide

Even though Fortnite has been an unexpected cultural force over the past nine months or so, PUBG is still putting up impressive numbers. Today, developer PUBG Corporation announced that PUBG sales have hit 50 million across PC and Xbox One. Including the mobile versions, it has reached over 400 million total players worldwide with 87 million daily players. To commemorate the milestones, PUBG is having its first ever sale on Steam right now until July 5th for $20.

PUBG launched on Steam Early Access in March 2017 and officially released in December 2017 along with the buggy Xbox One version. The game has grown since its initial release in the form of new maps and modes. It even spread to mobile platforms in March 2018 for the low price of free, which explains the 400 million players. The developer expressed their gratitude for the PUBG sales and success on the the PC version’s official Steam page.

“We’re genuinely humbled by PUBG’s ongoing success and growth, and we’re incredibly optimistic about the game’s future,” said Communications Lead at PUBG Corporation Ryan Rigney. “We’re going to keep working on new content and improvements for all versions of the game. We know there’s still so much we can do to make PUBG a better game for our players. Thanks so much to all of you for joining us on this wild ride.”

PUBG‘s next map, Sanhok, is the smallest map so far and will arrive on the live servers on June 22nd on the PC, along with a new gun. The new map is said to compete with Fornite, given its tinier size and intimacy. The Xbox One version won’t get this update until some time later in the summer. During their E3 conference, Microsoft did show off the new snow-ridden map for the game. It will appropriately come out at some unspecified time this winter.
