Game Freak announced Pokemon Quest earlier in May. It was immediately made available for the Nintendo Switch but the mobile versions were slated for the end of June. It has been confirmed that the game will be arriving on Android and iOS devices next week on June 28th, 2018. The game has actually turned out to be a surprise hit, but considering it’s a Pokemon game, that was surely a no-brainer.
The official Japanese Twitter account for Pokemon revealed the news earlier today. According to the tweet, Pokemon Quest downloads on the Nintendo Switch alone has reached a whopping 2.5 million worldwide. That was accomplished in the span of less than a month, although the fact that it’s a free-to-play Pokemon game must have contributed to its popularity.
Pokemon Quest Android iOS: Where To Pre-Register
The tweet also revealed that users can now pre-register for the game on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store starting today. iOS users will need to have iOS 9 or higher to play the game while Android users will need Android OS 4.4 or higher and at least 2GB RAM on their device.
Pokemon Quest is a visual departure from any past titles in the franchise, as it features a blocky aesthetic for the first time ever. It’s reminiscent of the Minecraft’s visual style. Compared to Pokemon Go, there are actually real-time battles in this one as players choose the moves they want to perform. Players will be able to build a team consisting of first generation Pokemon from Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue.
The game was initially announced alongside Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee. Both of those games will be Nintendo Switch exclusives, and they will feature many gameplay elements similar to Pokemon Go. More details and information will probably be revealed as we get closer to the release date of November 16th, 2018.
