Monument Valley 2 Has Made $10.4 Million in Revenue

Monument Valley 2 has amassed a over $10.4 million in revenue since it launched on iOS on June 5, 2017, according to a new infographic released by the developers Ustwo Games. The game launched on Android on November 6, 2017, and aince its release, the game has been sold almost 3.5 million times across both platforms.

According to the infographic, most of the game’s sales have been on iOS at over 2 million with Google Play sales numbering at 229,225. The game was also sold via Amazon and other retail platforms, both of which amassed combined sales of over 1 million. Despite releasing on June 5, 2017, the game made the most money a day after its release with $728,000 in revenue, the highest one-day revenue since the game’s release.

The developer also shared that the game was most downloaded and purchased in China, where it was initially released for free on Android in the country. The US is the second country where the game is most installed and purchased but the gap between the two countries, like the one between the iOS and Android sales, is pretty vast.

The development of Monument Valley 2 cost over $2.2 million and took a core team of 16 members 70 weeks to complete from concept to its launch on Android. The studio also spent $516,000 in marketing costs. So the game attaining $10.4 million in revenue in just its first year must be great news for the its developers.

Monument Valley 2 is a puzzle game developed by Ustwo Games and is the sequel to the 2014 original. Both games have been well received by both fans and critics. Monument Valley 2 has garnered several awards and nominations including The Game Awards Best Mobile Game 2017, the Unity Awards Best Mobile Game 2017, the IMGA China Award Best Overseas Game of the Year 2017, and more.

Monument Valley 2 is available on both iOS and Android through the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, respectively.
