Pokemon Fit plushies are releasing this year for all 151 original Pokemon, with the hand-sized plush toys set to make their way to Japan as the franchise’s latest bank-rolling official venture. The Pokemon plushies are designed to fit in the palm of your hand, and this will be the first time that all 151 Pokemon — that’s every creature from Bulbasaur through to Mew — will be made available.
While Pokemon plushies have been available for as long as the franchise has existed, this will be the first time that every pocket monster is represented in plushie form. Ever longed for a Psyduck plushie? Now’s your chance. Slowpoke? Zapdos? They’re here, too. This is going to be big news for Poke-fans, who for too long have been left with the standard Pikachu, Eevee, and Squirtle plush toys.
According to the Japanese site pk-mn.com, the Pokemon Fit plushies are set to retail for 1188 JPY, which is roughly $10.70. This means that if the toys retail at the same price point in the US, you’re looking at dropping around $1615 in order to catch ’em all. This is no small figure, though we’re sure that there will be some diehard Poke-fans fans in Japan who will fork out for every single one.
There’s no word yet on whether or not the plushies are set to make their way to the rest of the world, but we’d wager that this will eventually be the case. With Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu! and Let’s Go Eevee! set to release later this year for the Nintendo Switch, it seems likely that Nintendo would want to capitalize on this with more merchandise. With those games set to feature the original 151, it seems like a no-brainer that the plush toys will make their way to the west in order to coincide with the game’s launch. Or perhaps Nintendo doesn’t like money, and these toys will remain exclusive to Japan.
