Overwatch has helped out breast cancer research and is now encouraging people to eat a not-so-balanced breakfast. Starting on July 16, buyers of certain Kellogg’s products will be able to snag up to six unique Overwatch posters while supplies last. Specially marked boxes of Overwatch Pop-Tarts, Pringles, and Cheez-Its will be eligible as long as the purchaser uploads their receipt on the Kellogg’s website. Any of the qualified products must be purchased between July 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018.
Receipts submitted to the website must be uploaded by January 30, 2019 and must be claimed by February 28, 2019. Participating products include these specific 48 packs of Pop-Tarts: Frosted Strawberry, Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon, Fruit Variety Pack, and Chocolate Variety. The 30-count Pringles/Cheez-It Caddy Packs are also suitable. The packages will also be specially marked, as the example given shows the hero Lúcio on a Pop-Tarts box.
These six Overwatch posters feature Tracer, Bastion, Sombra, Soldier 76, Genji, and Hanzo. All of these seem to be stills of the animated shorts that developer Blizzard Entertainment released before and after the game’s launch. Kellogg’s did not specify how big each poster will be. However, the company stated that there will be a limit of 30 per customer. Users will also have to be at least 13 years old, part of the Kellogg’s Family Rewards program, and legal residents of the United States and District of Columbia.
Overwatch‘s explosive success makes it easy to see why Blizzard would do promotions like this. The game just hit 40 million players in May 2018, just before its second anniversary. The Overwatch League has been incredibly successful for them, with Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime stating that he was “very happy with the launch” while promising that more teams were on the way. The team has showed no signs of slowing down either, with the new hero, Wrecking Ball, slated to come out in the near future.
