Road to Battlefield 5

Road to Battlefield 5 Event Allows BF1 and BF4 Players to Earn Unlocks for the New Game

EA and DICE have announced the Road to Battlefield 5 event. As hype builds around the eventual Battlefield 5 release date, DICE wants people to remember why the series is so fun and return to Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4. The Road to Battlefield 5 actually began back in May, but the new rewards system is taking place throughout the summer. Playing Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4 will net you Battlefield 5 unlocks.

The DICE Blog details the program. New rewards will be given to returning players every week. If you log in to Battlefield 1 every day, you will see new daily tasks. Tackle these tasks successfully and it will “go toward earning various rewards, like weapon and equipment skins, Dog Tags, and Squad XP Boosts.” DICE say that the “available rewards unlock weekly and can be earned weekly.” A new map rotation option will deliver the best place to unlock these rewards.

Some of these rewards, however, will be reserved for Battlefield 5 unlocks. These “exclusive vanity items” will unlock, but will only be usable in Battlefield 5. Two exclusive Soldier Sets, which include weapon skins, headgear, camo patterns and face paint, are only accessible via The Road to Battlefield 5. The long story short? Play a bunch of Battlefield 1 and you’ll unlock new, exclusive gear to use in Battlefield 5.

What’s perhaps more exciting than exclusive rewards, however, is giveaways. In anticipation of Battlefield 5, EA is giving away expansion passes of Battlefield 1 and 4 for free. This began in May when EA gave away In the Name of the Tsar and Turning Tides. By the end of July, EA is giving everyone free copies of Apocalypse. Don’t fret if you’ve already missed out on any giveaway, though, as EA claims that “players may still get the chance to claim them again in the future.” Keep an eye on the official calendar to see what’s coming next, folks.

Battlefield 5 takes the series back to its Second World War roots and launches on PS4, Xbox One and PC October 19th.
