Everyone had been busy with E3 2018 in June. There were barely any new releases in June, and that means the return of older games to the top of the chart. GTA 5 and FIFA 18 topped PlayStation Store downloads for the category of PS4 games in June. No major new releases managed to enter the top ten, with the exception of Jurassic World Evolution, which managed to grab seventh place.
According to PlayStation Blog, GTA 5 and FIFA 18 toppled the reigning champion from May, which was PS4 exclusive God of War. The Last of Us Remastered landed fourth place, which probably received a massive boost thanks to the hype generated from the PlayStation E3 2018 Showcase. The press conference unveiled gameplay footage from the highly-anticipated The Last of Us 2 for the very first time.
Detroit Become Human scored fifth place, followed by Mortal Kombat XL, Jurassic World Evolution, Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition, Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition and Gran Turismo Sport. Meanwhile, H1Z1 Battle Royale retains the crown for another consecutive month, beating other popular free-to-play games like Fortnite Battle Royale and the newly-released Fallout Shelter. That’s not too surprising, considering the fact that it reached over a whopping 10 million players in its Open Beta, and that’s on the PS4 alone.
In the PS VR Games category, Job Simulator grabbed first place. Last month’s number one, Killing Floor Incursion, dropped all the way to seventh place. As for the PS Vita Games category, Stardew Valley was the most downloaded game, followed by the God of War: Collection PS Vita and Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection PS Vita. GTA San Andreas remains a popular choice for the PS Classics category, with Destroy All Humans! 2, Psychonauts and Destroy All Humans! trailing behind. With the Destroy All Humans! franchise gaining popularity again, perhaps it might be the perfect time for a sequel. Please make it happen, THQ Nordic!
