In a brand-new episode of Nintendo Direct, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata and company shed light on a few Wii U-centric features that until now have remained shrouded in mystery.
On November 18th, when you boot up your Wii U for the first time, you'll be taken to the WaraWara Plaza, Nintendo's previously revealed social Miiverse hub. You'll be able to read messages from your friends and see what the rest of the community is playing.
The system's video chat application "Wii U Chat" was also detailed, and in the video above you can watch Reggie Fils Aime and Mr. Iwata put the service to the test. Listening to Reggie attempt to speak Japanese is particularly entertaining. As expected, you can draw on the tablet while you chat—a nice addition, but unless you're five years-old I can't imagine you'll use it all that much.
