Fanmade Uncharted Movie Starring Nathan Fillion Released on YouTube for Free

The Uncharted movie is here! Well, not exactly. Fans of the Uncharted franchise can already head on over to YouTube and watch the full fanmade Uncharted movie right now. Their dreams of watching esteemed actor Nathan Fillion portray protagonist Nathan Drake have now been made into reality, thanks to Fillion himself and Gridlocked director Allan Ungar.

A short clip of the Uncharted live action fan movie was exclusively revealed by IGN earlier today, alongside the announcement that the entire movie can now be watched on YouTube for free. It follows Nathan Drake on a quest to find the lost treasure of Flor de la Mar, which sunk in 1511 while carrying precious loot gained from the Portuguese’s conquest of Malacca. The Uncharted fan film also stars Stephen Lang of Avatar fame as Victor “Sully” Sullivan, Mircea Monroe of Episodes fame as Elena Fisher, and Geno Segers of Banshee fame as the villain.

Speaking to IGN, Nathan Fillion said: “Here’s this incredible property, it’s out there, and no one has done anything with it yet. Brilliant characters, gripping stories, tailor-made for me — add in Allan’s passion for Uncharted, and talent — why wouldn’t we?” Impressively, Fillion reportedly trained vigorously and performed many of his own stunts as Nathan Drake. Now that’s certainly an admirable level of dedication.

Fillion himself teased the release of an Uncharted project last week when he posted a cryptic message on Instagram. It was a picture of the rapper Drake, alongside a caption which reads “Sic Parvis Magna.” The Latin phrase is a motto of sorts for Nathan Drake, which roughly translates to “Greatness From Small Beginnings.” It’s certainly exciting now that we know what exactly Fillion was teasing. However, it’s hard not to be disappointed that he probably won’t be playing any role in the upcoming official Uncharted movie by Sony Pictures, which reportedly stars Tom Holland as a younger Nathan Drake.

Uncharted fan film director Allan Ungar said: “I’ve been a huge fan of this franchise since it started back in 2007. I was still in school and remember thinking that it was going to change both the gaming landscape and the way we experience immersive storytelling. While the set pieces were always incredibly fun and inventive, it was the importance of character and story that really hooked me. You were able to put yourself in the shoes of someone that embodied everything we love about heroes, including their flaws. Over the years I always felt that if it was ever adapted into a film or series, there was only one guy out there that could play the part. Turns out I wasn’t the only one.” In the meantime, check out the full Uncharted fan film below.
