They must have had this planned all along. Barely a day after dropping the unofficial fanmade Uncharted movie, Nathan Fillion has confirmed what many have suspected all along, that he’s not voicing Hunter Vanguard Cayde-6 in the upcoming Destiny 2 Forsaken expansion. Instead, it was esteemed voice actor Nolan North who replaced Fillion in what will be Cayde-6’s final appearance ever.
As reported by IGN, Fillion confirmed the news on Kotaku’s Splitscreen podcast yesterday. He said: “I wasn’t available for this last installment, it’s not me doing the voice for Cayde-6. No, that wasn’t me. In a wonderful, amazing turn of events, it’s actually Nolan North.” Cayde-6’s voice was heard in the E3 2018 trailer for the next expansion of Bungie’s game. This isn’t even the first time that North has replaced somebody in a Destiny game. In 2015, he replaced Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage as the voice of Ghost in the first Destiny.
Now that Cayde-6 is confirmed to be deceased, Fillion had this to say about the matter: “Well then, in that case, my go to would be I’m really excited to work with Activision again and do the prequel as to how we get to Caydes one through five…[a] Cayde-6 prequel. That’s what we need to start talking about right now.” That’s good news for fans of Fillion, as he’s willing to return to the franchise in the future.
Fillion’s gamer cred is extremely high right now thanks to yesterday’s Uncharted fan film release on YouTube, in which he stars as protagonist Nathan Drake. It’s a gamer’s dream come true as the film follows Nathan Drake on a quest to find the lost treasure of Flor de la Mar, which sunk in 1511 while carrying precious loot gained from the Portuguese’s conquest of Malacca. It also stars Stephen Lang of Avatar fame as Victor “Sully” Sullivan, Mircea Monroe of Episodes fame as Elena Fisher, and Geno Segers of Banshee fame as the villain.
