Dark Souls 4K Texture Mod Makes the Game Look Gorgeous

Dark Souls Remastered was released back in May and gave the game a visual and performance upgrade. The graphics are sharper and more detailed in the remaster but some people want more detail. Modder Evie Schwab is one of those people and has released a Dark Souls 4K texture mod as a result.

Schwab has released new HD texture pack which contains 100 4k quality textures, bringing the number to a whopping 600 textures in total. These new 4K visuals will cover all of the Albedo Textures, Height Maps, and NMaps, basically, everything that the player can see will be in 4K. The modder also released a video showcasing the upgraded textures. If you are interested in the 4K texture pack then you will need to go to the official page. You will need a Nexus account to download it.

In the mod’s description, Schwab states that all of the textures have been made completely from scratch. The modder also states that she did not use any sharpening filters or upscaling whilst creating the 4k textures. Schwab has many other mods for Dark Souls for fans to try out, including face texture mods and new inventory icons. Those interested in Schwab’s mods can find them here.

Dark Souls was first released in 2011 and it became a cult hit. Since then, developer From Software has released two critically acclaimed sequels and the PS4 exclusive Bloodborne. Referred to as one of the most difficult video game series in history, many use the series as a benchmark for the level of challenge that modern games can provide.

In May 2018, publisher Bandai Namco released Dark Souls Remastered which brought along many improvements to the game’s visuals and performance. Blighttown, an infamous area in the first Dark Souls, ran at 60 fps, a big improvement over the stuttering framerate of the original.

Dark Souls Remastered is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A Nintendo Switch version is planned for release sometime later this year.
