While it isn’t Spec Ops The Line 2, YAGER, the developer of the original Spec Ops have announced an all-new FPS, The Cycle. The new FPS will enter alpha Testing soon, and you can take part! This new match-based FPS places you on a dangerous alien planet for around 20 minutes at a time. Any longer and it’s bad for your health.
The teaser trailer shows off a visually lush alien planet (Fortuna III). Bright colors dominate the stunning vistas, with plenty of alien life freely roaming the wilderness. Then, we see a landed spacecraft. Out steps a man with a gun. In the distance, other crafts are landing. Chills. The Cycle certainly looks interesting, but there isn’t a whole lot to go on here. Concrete gameplay details are rather thin on the ground as of writing. The announcement trailer can be seen below:
All we know is that up to 20 players can be online during any match. These matches will consist of everyone competing to fulfill contracts in a 20-minute time span. You’ll be fighting against alien monsters as well as other players. We guess that it’s some kind of PvP in which you’ll be competing against one another for all kinds of loot. It’s unclear whether or not we’ll be teaming up, or taking on each contract in singleplayer. Although it’s probably safe to assume that we’ll be able to tackle missions as a group, with friendly-fire on, of course – you’ll never be completely safe.
You can find out all you need to know about The Cycle by taking part in the game’s Alpha Testing. All you need to do to take part in the Alpha Test is click onto The Cycle’s official website. Once there, you’ll need to fill out the Alpha Tester application form. The Closed Alpha will begin within the next few weeks on Steam.
Currently, The Cycle is only slated for release on PC, but YAGER plans to bring the game to consoles “at a later date.”
