Sly Cooper is getting an animated TV show next year. Brand and IP management company PGS has posted a page for an upcoming Sly Cooper television show.
The page includes various details about the so-far unannounced project. To begin with, the show currently is slated for one season, that will be split in two. The first half will air 26 episodes starting in October 2019. Then the second half also consisting of 26 episodes will air in July 2020. The episodes will be 11 minutes long and be fully CG animated. PGS describes the show as:
“Sly Cooper follows the adventures of an irresistibly charismatic raccoon, a modern-day Robin Hood, who restores justice to his city one theft at a time. Mixing humor, action, and a remarkable cast of characters, Sly Cooper promises to be an unforgettable series.”
Mind you this isn’t an unofficial animated show for the franchise. Sony Interactive Entertainment will be partnering with Technicolot Animation Productions to produce the show. It is interesting to note however that the site only includes media from the film that has been in development hell for years. This could mean that rather than producing a full film, Sony will instead take resources from the movie and push it into a TV show. This makes sense considering how poorly the Ratchet & Clank film did. So it seems to be that the feature film for Sly Cooper is dead and gone.
Could this also mean a resurgence of the franchise since it is getting a bigger focus through the show? Only time will tell whether the thief raccoon will have his time in the spotlight again.
But what do you think? Are you excited for Sly and his friends to come to the small screen? Or is he irrelevant now and should be left in the dark? Sound off in the comments below!
