How to find Sly Cooper in Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart

Yes, Sly Cooper is ‘in’ Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart features fellow PlayStation platforming mascot, Sly Cooper. Insomniac Games dropped a hint ahead of launch, but now that it’s out, players are starting to discover the sneaky raccoon in-game. Additionally, there are appearances from numerous more iconic PlayStation characters. Finding Sly Cooper and co. is a fun process, thanks to a sweet secret weapon that summons them into the game world.

How to find Sly Cooper in Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart

Follow these steps in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart to see the Sly Cooper, Uncharted, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Sunset Overdrive nods:

  1. Collect all 12 Spy Bolts
  2. Go to Ms. Zurkon and buy the RYNO 8 for 0 Bolts
  3. Fire the weapon to open a Rift
  4. Use Photo Mode, or slow down the game speed in the “Accessibility” menu, to see the PlayStation characters more easily

In Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, firing the RYNO 8 gun opens a portal to another dimension. These contain familiar PlayStation and Insomniac Games mascots. Perhaps most notable amongst them is Sly Cooper — the raccoon thief that fans are hoping to see star in his own new PS5 game. However, Sly rarely makes an appearance using this gun, with him being one of the rarer cameos that pops up after firing the weapon.

Sucker Punch Productions, the team behind the dormant series, has acknowledged the crossover via social media. Sucker Punch recently wrapped up development on Ghost of Tsushima, though it isn’t yet clear what its next project is. Many fans are choosing to interpret the raccoon’s reappearance within R&C: Rift Apart as a hint. Whether or not there’s actually a Sly Cooper PS5 reboot in the works is unknown, however.

Most players will be familiar with Sly Cooper, Nathan Drake, and the Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West robots. Fizzie might be less familiar, however, due to appearing in Sunset Overdrive. That game was exclusive to the Xbox One, though, with Sony’s purchase of Insomniac, it’s now a PlayStation franchise.
