Cyberpunk 2077 Dynamic Weather

Cyberpunk 2077 Will Feature Dynamic Weather Similar to The Witcher 3

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally announced in 2012, and we only had our first glimpse of the highly-anticipated game several months ago at E3 2018. CD Projekt Red has thus far provided a few lingering details about the upcoming RPG game, but when it rains, it pours: We have now received confirmation that Cyberpunk 2077 will feature dynamic weather, similar to how it was implemented in The Witcher 3.

In an interview with Italian website Multiplayer (translated by GameReactor), CD Projekt Red writer Stanisław Swiecicki has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will not only feature dynamic weather conditions, but also a day and night cycle. He said: “We wanted to make you feel like an integral part of the city right from the first moment, and as in all the cities, day and night, we wanted to show players how we were able to recreate a dark and dystopian future, even in daylight. Of course, there will be variable weather conditions.”

CD Projekt Red’s ability to portray realistic weather conditions in an open-world game has already been well established. In The Witcher 3, players would face storms with powerful currents of wind and heavy rainfall, with trees visibly swaying to and fro. The next day it could be sunshine all the way, featuring impressive lighting and shadow effects which are still some of the best of this generation. Cyberpunk 2077 could potentially have even better weather effects, particularly as it has been mooted for a release on next-generation consoles.

As we await the eventual gameplay reveal for Cyberpunk 2077 (whenever that could be), check out our feature on why the futuristic dystopian game will be the ultimate RPG for science fiction fans. We also compiled a list of books and comics for you to bide your time with until the game arrives sometime in the future.
