Naruto, Death Note, and More Join Digital Goods Site Quidd

Evergreen shonen anime and manga franchises such as Naruto, Bleach, and Death Note are set to join Quidd, digital collection app. Licenses holder Viz Media has entered into a partnership with Cryptozoic Entertainment to create a line of tradable collectibles for the digital goods marketplace.

Fans of the popular shonen series will be able to buy, sell, and trade things like digital stickers, trading cards, and even figures across the Quidd platform “soon”. Each property is already confirmed to feature heavily in the upcoming Jump Force game.

Quidd is a leading digital marketplace available on both iOS and Android which allows fans to buy, sell, and trade digital merchandise based on pop culture icons like Rick & Morty and Game of Thrones. Items bought through the app can then be used like the stickers, emojis, and GIFs already found on popular mobile messaging apps.

Through the reported partnership with Viz Media, Crytozoic Entertainment will be able to create similar digital goods for evergreen Shonen Jump properties like Naruto and Death Note for purchase on Quidd. It’s fundamentally similar to the idea of trading cards on Steam or stickers on messaging applications like LINE. Quidd was founded in 2015 and has since sold over 1.9 billion individual items since its official launch the following year. Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, and any other major Viz Media-owned franchises that get included over time should help pass the 2 billion mark.

“The growth of licensed digital merchandise has been tremendous over the past year…” said Brad Woods, Chief Marketing Officer of VIZ Media. “Our partnership will give anime fans a new way to share their love of popular properties like Naruto…

As for Cryptozoic, CEO John Sepenuk said “The Cryptozoic team is passionate about anime and Naruto Shippuden, Bleach, and Death Note are among our favorites. We are capturing what makes them so special to fans everywhere, and applying our passion and insight to the digital trading cards, stickers, and figures we’re creating for the Quidd app.”

The vast amount of licensed items gathered together by Quidd means its digital goods ledger is “the largest on the planet.” The Naruto franchise will be the first to make the jump to Quidd, but VIZ Media ensures that “other classic series” will follow after Bleach and Death Note.
