CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher has had a Netflix adaptation in the works for some time, and it looks like someone’s let the cat out of the bag when it comes to casting scripts for certain characters. The Witcher Netflix leaks in question here are to do with scenes that won’t make it into the final TV show, but they do offer some insight into the dynamic between Yennefer and Geralt that showrunners are wanting when they consider who to cast.
The scripts first showed up on The Witcher subreddit. As reported by PCGamer, there’s even a particular scene involving Geralt being shirtless, or at least that Yennefer would prefer him that way. The established dynamics between Geralt and Yennefer in the games shine through in the leaked scripts and the reference to events that fans are already familiar with only serve to make us more confident that the Netflix show will be handled with aplomb.
There’s also been confirmation from one of the writers working on The Witcher‘s adaptation that The Witcher Netflix leaks that have seen the light of day are legitimate. Lauren S. Hissrich (@LHissrich) tweeted:
Remember when I said that casting sides would leak and not to worry because they are not real scenes or scenarios or even storylines from the show?
It happened. As we knew it would. Don’t worry. All is okay in the #Witcher world.

While the writers have been quick to emphasize that the scenes leaked won’t actually be in the show, it’s nice to see that the scripts themselves contain elements of well-established Witcher lore, as piecemeal as those references are. Fans are hopeful that this means the show as a whole will be well-researched and that it’ll be more of a faithful rendition of an already familiar franchise as opposed to adopting HBO’s anti-canon approach with Game of Thrones.
