Overwatch continues to have a strong, healthy playerbase in spite of the number of multiplayer competitors ensuring that the market is awash with choice. It would seem that Blizzard Entertainment‘s runaway hit is also due to attack another market too, with the LEGO Group teasing a huge announcement at Gamescom 2018 on Tuesday. The company’s official Twitter account put up a six-second long video that shows off the LEGO Overwatch sets that were announced almost three months ago in May.

Replying to one comment with “more information will be coming soon,” LEGO refused to confirm a release date for any of the sets or characters, but it’s plausible that it won’t be long if they’re teasing this at one of the world’s biggest gaming events. Soon, players everywhere will be able to get their hands on cute, miniature versions of their favorite heroes, including Mercy, D.Va and Soldier 76.
The video tease only shows off six characters so far, with the aforementioned Mercy and Soldier joined by holograms for Reinhardt, McCree, Widowmaker and Genji. It remains to be seen if this set of six will be the first edition of heroes produced, when more will come, or if they will be the only ones made available for the foreseeable future.
This partnership shows how LEGO is continuing to work with big brands, especially those in the video game genre. Fans have already been able to buy sets based on the likes of Minecraft and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, as well as the Traveller’s Tales video games based on LEGO-ized classic films and comic book franchises.
Overwatch has amassed around 40 million players since its launch in May 2016, according to Blizzard. The game is currently holding its annual Summer Games event, which brought in new skins and the return of Lúcioball. It ends on August 30.
