The latest Battlefield 5 trailer gives us insight into battle royale mode Firestorm. In addition to that mode, the video also shows us a glimpse of multiplayer, single-player, Tides of War, and various gameplay adjustments.
Firestorm is EA and DICE’s take on the battle royale formula, featuring 64 players divided into sixteen teams of four. Players will fight until only one team remains in what will be the “largest Battlefield map ever.” There will be plenty of destructible buildings as well as the weapons and vehicles you’ve come to expect from the franchise.
Standard multiplayer will consist of eight different modes: Final Stand, Airborne, Breakthrough, Domination, Frontlines, Team Deathmatch, Conquest Assault, and Conquest. Grand Operations are inspired by real life historical battles and span four in game days.
Expect eight settings at the launch of Battlefield 5 including North Africa, Norway, Rotterdam, the French country side, and more. As far as gameplay adjustments the team has focussed on player movement, better squad play, improved gun mechanics, and more dynamic destructible environments.
In Battlefield 5 antipicate more control and precision when it comes to your weaponry featuring guns with more predictable recoil and spray patterns. To provide more player control, you’ll be able to send grenades back and even shoot them in midair. When battling it out, call in rockets for extra offense or a supply drop for more support.
Environmentally, both destruction and construction are more fleshed out. Break and jump out of windows, shoot your way through plaster walls, or drive a tank right directly through a house. As far as building, there’s a new fortification system. Every soldier has a tool box and can build in specific areas including structures such as fox holes, sandbag walls, bridges, tank stoppers, reinforcements for buildings, ramps for new routes, and more.
Single-player will be full of the untold stories of World War II with five narrative vignettes: Prologue, Nordlys, Tirailleur, Under No Flag, and The Last Tiger (post launch).
Battlefield 5 is doing away with the premium pass, offering Tides of War as a free post launch live service. It starts with the Fall of Europe. New daily and monthly content will follow. The second chapter of Tides of War will be set in Greece and release in early 2019.
The recently delayed Battlefield 5 is now set to release on November 20, 2018 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC but you already check out the experience with the Battlefield 5 open beta.
