The new Apple Watch Series 4 was revealed today at the company’s September special event. There will be two sizes available at launch: 42mm and 44mm. With this new screen size, the new smartwatch will offer a brand new UI. It also features the ability to do EKG scans. The new Apple Watch will release September 21, 2018.
The new Apple Watch Series 4 is 30 percent bigger and is overall thinner than previous models. It boasts a brand-new 64-bit S4 processor which the company claims is two times faster than older Apple Watches. This new Apple Watch also features the ability to do more functions with its advanced UI. It will be able to run up to eight complications on the watch face and will be able to display more information from apps than previous iterations.
The new Apple Watch also has many new health-focused features as well. As previously mentioned, it can perform EKG scans, but it can also notify users of a low or irregular heart rate. The new Apple Watch also has a feature where it will notify emergency services if it detects that the user is immobile for more than one minute.
The digital crown on the smartwatch has also been updated. The new Apple Watch now features haptic feedback on its non-touchscreen input, with its LTE indicator now being a ring rather than a dot. This new Apple Watch also features better speakers than previous models. These new speakers are 50 percent louder and the microphone has been moved to the opposite end of the device to help increase the quality of calls. The new Apple Watch features a black ceramic and blue sapphire rear, which makes radio waves able to pass through both the front and the back.
All previously existing bands will be compatible with this new Apple Watch and the body will be available in silver, gold, and space grey aluminum. The GPS edition of the new Apple Watch will start at $399, while the cellular version will be available for $499. Apple will also continue to offer the Series 3 devices for the reduced price of $279.
