As we’re saddling up towards the Red Dead Redemption 2 release date, Rockstar Games has revealed a good amount of information regarding the game. Today, Rockstar has confirmed exactly where we’ll be rootin’ and tootin’ as outlaw Arthur Morgan. The Red Dead Redemption 2 locations are varied, vast, and detailed. What’s detailed below, however, is just some of the places we’ll visit in the game’s huge open world.
The official website of the game has detailed some of the locations we’ll be visiting in Rockstar’s upcoming cowboy sequel. The locations revealed feature all sorts of Western staples. Banks, saloons, and even swamps fill the vast, open landscape of Red Dead Redemption 2. “From the forests of West Elizabeth to the mountains of Ambarino to the plains of New Hanover to the swamps of Lemoyne”, there is plenty of variation in the Red Dead Redemption 2 locations.
The list of locations revealed is as follows:
- Valentine: The Heartlands, NH
- Annesburg: Roanoke Ridge, NH
- Saint Denis: Bayou NWA, LE
- Mount Hagen: Grizzlies, AM
- Rhodes: Scarlett Meadows, LE
- Strawberry: Big Valley, WE
- Lagras: Bayou NWA, LE
Valentine is “a raucous, rough-and-tumble town in the Heartlands.” It’s a place where “livestock auctions attract traders, ranchers, cowboys, gamblers, outlaws, and prostitutes from far and wide.” This is somewhere to make money, “raise some hell, and have a good time.” Annesburg, meanwhile, is a miner’s town. The coal mine is the main attraction of Annesburg, and as such, it is something of a depressing town, with downbeat, overworked, and under-payed locales. Saint Denis is a well-to-do city, where the rich gather to talk trade deals. Mount Hagen “towers above Lake Isabella to the west and Beartooth Beck to the east.” A snowy mountain range where some outlaws might lay in wait.
Rhodes is another big town, but with a local family dispute bubbling underneath its “prim and proper” surface. Strawberry, meanwhile is a small town, with big ambitions. Lastly, Lagras is a small settlement “out in the swamps of Bayou NWA, Lemoyne.” There is “little money here”, but it is full of helpful locals who can help you “navigate the region.”
There is plenty of variation in locations and things to do with just these six areas detailed by Rockstar. Red Dead Redemption 2 releases on PS4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018.
