Resonance of Fate

Resonance of Fate Remaster Confirmed for PS4 and Steam

After the game was spotted on the German Classification Board last week, Resonance of Fate has been confirmed for a remastered release. A new trailer for the upgraded version of the game was published alongside its announcement. This version will feature upscaled 4K visuals and will release on PS4 and PC via Steam on October 16.

Tri-Ace, the developers of this port, have announced on its website that this release date pertains to both the West and Japan. The Japanese edition is currently priced at ¥3,700, which is roughly $34. However, there is no pricing for other territories. Sega does not seem to be publishing this version of the title. It will be a full remaster of the 2010 original, rather than a simple port.

The trailer for Resonance of Fate 4K/HD Edition showcases the upgraded graphics to the cutscenes and gameplay. The title follows three protagonists, Zephyr, Leanne, and Vashyron as the player engages in what Tri-Ace calls “firearm based pulse-pounding strategic battles” on its website. Fans who pre-order the game on PS4 will receive an original theme and avatar, while those who get it on PC will nab Steam Trading Cards for the title.

Resonance of Fate originally released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2010. It received generally favorable reviews, receiving a Metacritic rating of 72 on Sony’s console and 74 on Microsoft’s. Our own review of the game only gave it a 0.5 out of 5 rating, however. Our review cited the game’s overwhelming need to grind to progress, it’s bland overall design, and a generic story as reasons for its low score.

It is set in a hyper-futuristic Earth which has gone through a cataclysmic environmental change. It follows the aforementioned protagonists as they create a mercenary group, but find a conspiracy to overthrow the government of the city they live in, called Basel.
