Bandai Namco has today confirmed some new details regarding the story mode of its upcoming Shonen Jump crossover mashup fighting game, Jump Force. The Jump Force story mode will have us fighting with and against many heroes and enemies from across Shonen Jump’s many manga series. It has been confirmed, however, that some new faces will be joining in the fight. Bandai Namco has announced via a short trailer on Twitter that four new characters are joining the fray, all designed by legendary Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump creator Akira Toriyama.
The official Twitter account of Bandai Namco confirmed the news, and you can watch the short trailer and read its accompanying tweet below:

Little more than what is stated above is known about the Jump Force story mode. We know that these four brand-new exclusive characters will appear in some capacity, but no other official details have been given as of writing.
Jump Force pits many heroes and villains from Shonen Jump’s vast library against each other in a grand fighting game fashion. The Jump Force roster is already large, but the number of playable characters is increasing every day. Super Saiyan Blue Goku will be in the game as a transformation, for example. Killua and Kurapika from Monster X Hunter were confirmed as playable characters just yesterday, too.
You’ll be pitting the likes of Goku, Naruto, and Monkey D. Luffy against each other in large 3D arenas. Flashy special attacks befitting the over-the-top nature of many of the mangas involved fill the screen. It’s big and bold, but we found it to be slightly lacking in our hands-on preview. We found that “the fighting is loose, the AI [borders] on brain-dead, and you’re left with the sinking feeling that so much more… could be done with the licensed tools at [Bandai Namco’s] disposal.”
Despite this, Jump Force is scheduled to release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in February 2019.
