Ace Combat 7 Skies Unknown may have been delayed multiple times since its initial announcement, but Bandai Namco is making up for that with the game’s exciting pre-order bonuses. The Ace Combat 7 pre-order bonuses include platform-exclusive additional games like Ace Combat 5 for PS4 owners and Ace Combat 6 for Xbox One owners. The developer recently cleared the doubts of fans by clarifying that Ace Combat 5 PS4 will not be a remaster.
Speaking with DualShockers, Bandai Namco Producer and Brand Director Kazutoki Kono confirmed that Ace Combat 5 PS4 is not a remaster of any kind. Instead, it will be a port of the original PS2 version of the game and it will run natively on the PS4, albeit with an upscaled resolution. This might not be what some long-time fans of the franchise wanted to hear, but perhaps this might lead to an eventual remaster of Ace Combat 5 Unsung War in the future.
Additionally, Kono also confirmed that the Ace Combat 7 Xbox One pre-order bonus, Ace Combat 6 Fires of Liberation, will not be a remaster as well. It will only be a digital copy of the Xbox 360 version of the game running on the Xbox One via backward compatibility. Ace Combat 6 is relatively new compared to Ace Combat 5, but it was still originally released more than a decade ago in 2007, while the latter launched three years earlier in 2004.
Meanwhile, PC players won’t be receiving any additional game as part of their pre-order bonuses. Maybe Bandai Namco will reveal something more for them closer to the game’s release date, but the franchise has always traditionally favored consoles over PC. Ace Combat 7 Skies Unknown will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One on January 18, 2019, and February 1, 2019, for the PC.
