Not one to rest on its laurels, Blizzard Entertainment is putting together something new for Hearthstone fans. While we already know that there are going to be some big changes in the game, this is entirely divorced from fireside brawls. The company has licensed a Hearthstone pop-up book which is targeting at a younger audience than the game itself. Apparently, this book will let its readers participate in an arena battle, though how this pans out still remains to be seen.
The lore behind the Hearthstone and World of Warcraft universes is fast, so it’s no surprise at all that Blizzard is expanding into creating something like this book. While fans are no stranger to the novellas that provide extra context to the game, the material covered there is likely a little too adult for younger fans of the series.
The Hearthstone book looks like it will provide a highly interactive experience involving innovative use of paper, props, and moveable elements to tell an engaging story that pulls all of the game’s heroes together. Not only will readers learn a little more about each WoW hero’s backstory and legacy, but they will also be educated about how the game works in practice, along with the effects of various spells, card, and even experience a recreation of the board’s idle animations.
The Hearthstone pop-up book looks like a real feat of creativity, and it will contain art by Mike Sass, paper engineering by Simon Arizpe and text by Rick Barba. The book will be published by Insight Editions, and there’s currently some pre-release footage of it which will give fans a taste of what they can expect when they actually get their hands on the finished product. For those who love what they’re seeing in the trailer below from Best Pop-Up Books’ Youtube channel, the book is currently available for pre-order worldwide over Amazon so you can lock down your copy as soon as possible.
