Cyberpunk 2077 Release Date Reportedly Leaked by Turkish Publisher

Cyberpunk 2077‘s release date appears to have let out of the bag ahead of schedule by its Turkish publisher. Bilkom, who will distribute CD Projekt Red’s next title in its homeland, accidentally revealed that the title would be launched sometime in 2019. The mistake was published on the company’s Twitter account, but was swiftly removed after it was found to have gone live.

Bilkom representatives weren’t quick enough, however, to stop the leak from being noticed. The Turkish division of VG247 took a screenshot of the tweet in question, which purports that Cyberpunk 2077 will be with us next year. There’s no official date to come with that unfortunately, but there’s now reported confirmation that we won’t have to wait until 2020 to play Cyberpunk 2077.

According to VG247’s UK outlet, CD Projekt Red has chosen not to comment on the supposed leak when asked about it. The video game developer have only stated that the game will be released “when it’s ready” in the past. Bilkom were the publishers behind another CD Projekt Red series in the Witcher though, so they would have a good indication of when Cyberpunk 2077 will likely be released on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

CD Projekt Red’s latest headache won’t have been helped by the news that the author of the Witcher novels, Andrzej Sapkowski, has demanded compensation over the video game franchise. Earlier today, we covered the story that Sapkowski wants CD Projekt Red to stump up $16 million due to the terms of a signed agreement. Sapkowski’s legal team claims he is owed between 5% and 15% of the profits from the licensed games. CD Projekt are refusing to pay though, with a counter claim that Sapkowski was paid a lump sum of around $9,500 over the rights back in 2003 – something that Sapkowski’s team said only covers the rights of the first Witcher game.
