New Medabots Game

New Medabots Game Teased in Upcoming Announcement

It’s been a while since the last Medabots game was released, so not many may have realized that last year was actually the 20th anniversary of the franchise. It’s also been more than a decade since the last title was localized for gamers outside of Japan. Long-time fans should be glad to learn that a new Medabots game has been teased in the most recent issue of the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu.

Medabots publisher Imagineer representative Hiroyuki Hashida might be hinting at a possible new Medabots game in an upcoming announcement on Medabots Day, which falls on November 28, 2018. It’s meant to celebrate the franchise’s 20th anniversary, so it stands to reason that Imagineer would want to commemorate the occasion with something big to mark the milestone.

As translated by Gematsu, Hashida mentioned the newly-opened Medabots portal website and 2017’s Medabots Classics for the Nintendo 3DS, which was already meant to mark the franchise’s 20th anniversary. However, it seems that Imagineer wants to do more, as it is making “various arrangements” for the upcoming Medabots Day.

“A Medabots portal website was opened and a 20th-anniversary title called Medabots Classics was released for 3DS in December 2017, but it would be lonely for us to end the 20th anniversary as is,” he said. “We’re thinking about various things as to not let that happen.”

The first ever Medabots game, Medarots, was originally released in 1997 for the Game Boy by developer Natsume. It was only available in Japan and ended up not being localized. Medabots became better known internationally when Medabots was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, as well as an anime series which spanned a total of 52 episodes running from 2001 to 2002 in North America. The last Medabots game to be localized was the action RPG Medabots Infinity for the Gamecube back in 2003.
