Cyberpunk 2077 Warner Bros Confirmed as Publisher

More and more details are coming out for CD Projekt Red‘s highly-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 as we get closer to the eventual release date. Now the Polish developer has announced that Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment will be distributing the upcoming open-world RPG game in North America. However, this Cyberpunk 2077 Warner Bros partnership won’t be the first time that the publisher will have published one of the Polish studio’s games in the U.S.

According to CD Projekt Red board member and business development SVP Michał Nowakowski, the developer has collaborated with Warner Bros Entertainment in the past for the North American distribution of both The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. Nowakowski also described the game as the developer’s “biggest and most ambitious project to date.”

“We’ve worked with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and both releases turned out to be really successful, so we’re entering this new stage of our cooperation with great confidence,” he said. “Cyberpunk 2077 is our biggest and most ambitious project to date, and I’m really looking forward to all the amazing things we can achieve together.”

This isn’t the first time that CD Projekt Red has partnered with other publishers to distribute the game in different regions around the world, either. For instance, Bandai Namco Entertainment distributed The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt in Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. In other related news, new details regarding the world layout and quest structure for Cyberpunk 2077 have recently come to light.

Quests in the game will be similar in design to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. Players will find side quests naturally in the open-world, instead of fixed NPCs and scripted moments. The backstory chosen by players will also play a hand at determining which side quests will be unlocked at the beginning of the game.
