Only a few months after its initial reveal, the Warframe Fortuna release window has finally been narrowed. While not an exact release date, this upcoming free expansion will be coming out on an unspecified day in November 2018 on PC via Steam. It will hit the PS4 and Xbox One this winter but no time period was given for the Nintendo Switch port, which is also slated for next month.
Warframe‘s Fortuna expansion was unveiled at TennoCon 2018, a Warframe-centric convention held in Ontario, Canada, which is also the home of developer and publisher, Digital Extremes. Fortuna is said to be over four times bigger than the Plains of Eidolon, last year’s big free update. Digital Extremes also claims in its press release that Fortuna brings a “different Orokin-infused look, feel and experience” to Warframe. The Orokin was an ancient empire in Warframe‘s lore and fit role of the “incredibly advanced civilization that came before” trope.
Players will also be able to use the new K-Drive hoverboard. This piece of gear will help them traverse the new terrain full of both man-made and natural structures. The story follows the Solaris United faction and players will be able to find missions and bounties in the internment camp located in Fortuna. This will help the Solaris United faction fight against the Corpus, the merchant cult “built on the foundation of salvaged technology and robotics.” The Warframe Fortuna release date will likely be revealed in the future before it launches.
This expansion, more or less, follows a similar pattern seen other Warframe updates. These free updates usually hit the PC first, as did The Sacrifice earlier this year. The console release of The Sacrifice came out on July 5, which was a few weeks after the PC got the update on June 14. The Nintendo Switch port comes out on November 20 and it remains to be seen if it will get the updates at the same time as the PS4 and Xbox One or after.
