To coincide with the Crackdown 3 release date announcement, Microsoft has gone ahead and given away the original entry away for free. Starting right now until November 30, people can go on the Microsoft Store and redeem the first Crackdown for no cost at all. The game is also backwards compatible on Xbox One, which means you don’t need to have an old Xbox 360 lying around to take advantage of this deal.
Crackdown initially came out in February 2007 for the Xbox 360. It was generally received well as its own title and surpassed the moniker of being just a conduit for the Halo 3 beta. The game’s approach to open-world progression and addictive orb collecting helped pave the way for titles like inFamous.
The game’s listing on the Microsoft Store shows that the game is 6.15GB. Just keep in mind that, although it is free, you’ll need to enter a credit card to redeem the game similar to Xbox 360 titles on Games With Gold.
