Crytek Confirms “Nothing Has Changed” Since Homefront 2 Purchase

Crysis developer Crytek has been working on Homefront 2 for quite some time now, so when THQ's assets were auctioned off earlier this week, there was little doubt that the studio would be ready to snatch up the rights to the franchise.

Fortunately, they managed to do just that, and as such, there hasn't been any delay in the game's development. “Since we first reached an agreement to develop Homefront 2, we’ve been firm believers in the IP and its potential to excite and amaze players," Crytek founder Cevat Yerli explained in a statement released to CVG. “Our cooperation with THQ was always positive and we would like to thank them for all their support over the last two years and express our sympathy to those affected by the recent events at the company.”

General manager Nick Button-Brown went on to add that “from day one, the Homefront 2 team has been committed to creating a game that takes the series to new heights and features the level of quality and innovation associated with Crytek. Nothing has changed with regards our development of the game, and we look forward to sharing the finished product with players.”

While the original Homefront was an undoubted letdown, it did have an interesting premise, and with Crytek now at the helm, there's a really good chance we'll get a sequel that realizes the true promise of the franchise.
