Sega has its sights on the online PC market now that the publisher has acquired Relic Entertainment and a number of its intellectual properties.
The company released a statement regarding the purchase, saying that this move “will further advance the provision of various appealing entertainment contents” as well as "further reinforce PC game development capabilities.”
“We are thrilled to have Relic Entertainment join the SEGA family. The acquisition is a strategic fit and a critical step in growing our business,” Sega of America president John Cheng said. “They are a well-respected studio with a reputation for making creative and innovative games and we look forward to seeing what great things we can create together over the coming years.”
While Sega refrained from specifying which IPs they've secured and will be building upon, the company did mention the impressive sales figures of both the Warrhammer 40k and Company of Heroes franchises. I don't know about you, but I'd definitely like to see a sequel to Space Marine.
