How many copies of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale do you think Sony intended to sell in Japan during its debut week? Two-hundred thousand? One-hundred thousand? Or at least half that, 50k? Whatever the goal was, I assure you it was much, much higher than 12,000 units. Sadly for the company, that's all that the PS3 version of its multiplayer brawler could manage. The Vita version failed to chart, meaning whatever it sold fell below 6,100. Below lies Media Create's best-seller list, spanning January 28 to February 3.

Hardware numbers show that either the PSP has a ton of selling power, or the Wii-U is underperforming right now. The truth, as with anything, probably lies in some combination of the two. Here's the full hardware chart.

PS3 – 18,106
Wii-U – 12,959

Next week, expect continued high-positioning by Animal Crossing, but number one will almost certainly be the Dragon Quest VII remake for 3DS. It will stab everything in the eye.
