Fans of BioWare’s epic RPGs might be disappointed to hear that the Dragon Age 4 release date will be in 2021 – and possibly even later than that.
While BioWare is plenty busy with the closed alpha of Anthem, fans of the story-focused developer are nonetheless curious about what’s next for the Dragon Age franchise. It’s been more than four years since the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition and we haven’t heard very much about the game recently. Ostensibly, BioWare has been busy with their work on Anthem. We’ve now heard our first tidbit of info regarding the Dragon Age 4 release date.
A source speaking to VentureBeat has stated that we won’t be seeing a Dragon Age 4 release date until at least 2021. It’s possible that we could see this potential release window change, but EA and BioWare have reportedly not yet decided on a name for the next game in their epic fantasy franchise.
A post on the official BioWare blog in late November 2018 by General Manager Casey Hudson has recently highlighted the importance the studio places on the franchise:
If you’ve been following these blogs, or myself and Mark Darrah on Twitter, you know we’re also working on some secret Dragon Age stuff. Dragon Age is an incredibly important franchise in our studio, and we’re excited to continue its legacy. Look for more on this in the coming month (though I won’t tell you where to look…)
It’s entirely possible that we’d hear something about a Dragon Age 4 release date on their official media channels, but we may very well be getting some kind of announcement at this year’s The Game Awards. Although Electronic Arts only has A Way Out up for an award, the show would certainly be an excellent venue for announcing something epic for the Dragon Age franchise.
Make sure to tune in to The Game Awards and find out, and don’t forget to follow GameRevolution for all the latest coverage surrounding Dragon Age 4 and The Game Awards!
